His background includes a wide variety of
mechanical design applications, both new
and renovations, in the industrial, commercial
and private sectors.
Mr. Smith has been involved in every aspect
of consulting mechanical engineering from
conception to construction by doing feasibility
studies,
preparation of detailed energy analysis,
preparing preliminary design, comparing alternatives,
compiling cost analyses and estimates, drawing
plans, selecting equipment, writing specification,

bid selection, inspecting construction and
installation of projects. Many architects
throughout
Alabama have called on Mr. Smith’s
experience to correct the inability of the
existing HVAC
system to meet the required loads of the
building, to help minimize utility costs,
improve the
control of space conditions and correct indoor
air quality problems.
In all of Mr. Smith’s projects, quality
of design has been stressed with emphasis
on simplicity, maintainability and minimum
cost.
His engineering provides progressive plumbing
and HVAC design with an innovative approach.

a high emphasis on simplicity, maintainability
with minimal first cost and comfortable environments
for the occupants in an energy efficient manner.
The division has produced approximately 100 projects
per year, ranging in size from consultations
to multi-million dollar facilities, completing
over 2100 individual projects during its 24-year
