The firm has provided professional consulting services for architectural firms, industry, commercial clients and school systems through the southeast. Based on 24 years of experience, Paul Smith & Associates’ designs place a high emphasis on simplicity, maintainability with minimal first cost and comfortable environments for the occupants in an energy efficient manner.

Paul Smith & Associates produces approximately 100 projects per year, ranging in size from consultations to multi-million dollar facilities. PSA has worked with over 2100 individual projects during its 24-year history.

Paul Smith and Associates have been the prime design professional on many projects involving major school renovations. Because of PSA’s experience with the State Building Commission requirements and guidelines this help ensure a smooth project. Additionally, the firm is experienced with the requirements of:

  • International Codes 2003
  • Southern Building Code Congress
  • ASHRAE standards
  • Alabama Building Commission
  • Local City Inspections Departments

Mr. Smith’s training and experience with ASHRAE Standards for Indoor Air Quality has involved PSA in many projects resolving mold and mildew problems as well as indoor air quality health issues. High temperatures, high humidity and microbial contaminants are a few of the challenges we confront in providing good indoor air quality in the Southeast. Appropriate design, construction and maintenance are required to create and maintain a comfortable and healthy indoor environment.
